Tejshvi's story
Tejshvi Jain is the Founding Director of ReReeti Foundation; a recipient of the Art Think South Asia Fellowship and Nehru Trust for Indian Collections at the V&A
Tejshvi has almost 20 years of experience in the arts, culture and museums sector. Founded in 2015, ReReeti Foundation works with museums and heritage sites to create transformative experiences that make their collection relevant to their target audiences. The foundation also helps museums become an integral part of their local community by engaging key stakeholders such as families, schools and companies.
My CWIT fellowship enabled me to explore different methodologies of community engagement employed by museums in the city of Leeds and across West Yorkshire. It gave me an understanding of how global events can be understood better and made relevant through the local lenses that add value to a community.
This experience was important because it has helped Tejshvi to build partnerships, gain operational insights, and develop an understanding of process-based approaches. She also identified potential long-term partnerships between the West Yorkshire Local Authority Museums Partnership and comparable institutions in India. Tejshvi was able to observe and learn numerous lessons from Arts Council England’s ‘Creative Case for Diversity’ and as a result of her visit, Leeds Museums and Galleries has joined the project White Pepper Black Pepper – India in the First World War.
