Shreela Ghosh
Shreela has been the Secretary of the Charles Wallace India Trust since December 2018.
Over the past 30 years Shreela has worked in senior roles across the Arts and Heritage sectors in the UK, including Literature, Visual Arts, Theatre and Dance. Shreela was the Deputy Director of Iniva – Institute of International Visual Arts (2006–2009), and the founding Director of the Freeword Centre (2009–2011). Freeword, promotes literature, literacy and free expression across the world. From 2011–2018 Shreela was a member of the British Council’s global Arts Management Team. During this period Shreela was privileged to live and work in South Asia (Dhaka and New Delhi), as the British Council’s first Regional Arts Director. She relished the opportunity to increase investment in the arts and heritage of South Asia and has mentored a team of 15 arts specialists working to deliver ambitious programmes in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Iran, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Shreela has an excellent understanding of charity governance having served on many Boards over the years. Shreela was a Board Member of the Amsterdam-based European Cultural Fund (2006–2011) and also served on the Heritage Lottery Fund’s London Committee (2007–2011). Currently, Shreela is a governor of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (one of the best conservatoires in the world). She is also a member of the Board of Graeae Theatre Company, which creates and promotes excellent productions by Deaf and Disabled artists.
