Suman Bhandary is a typeface designer and font developer who graduated with an MA in Typeface Design from the University of Reading, UK.
Suman has contributed to typeface design projects as a Principal Designer since 2015 having published “Mina” by Google Fonts and been featured by Google Design in 2017. Suman has since focused on research based on typography and type design, primarily on Indian scripts and he is currently an assistant Professor with the Indian Institute of Art and Design in New Delhi.
CWIT enabled me to dive deep into the subject of typeface design. The program was intense in terms of understanding the nuances of the craft and the associated research allowed me to explore unchartered territories within the work.
This experience was important to Suman as it paved the way into the typeface design industry and the amazing community through which it operates where he was able to contribute to the academic needs and excel within the industry. As a designer who is intrigued by research, the program at the University of Reading was a perfect blend.
