Learning from the celebrated British ceramist Walter Keeler was a dream.
Living in and working out of Keelers home studio in a Welsh village allowed me to closely observe his practice, most specifically his unique salt firing technique. I was also fortunate to make friends with several other local artists during my stay.
After completing my masters degree, I was keen to focus on learning through one-on-one interaction. The CWIT grant has been significant in my journey as a ceramic artist because I developed my technical skills and also expanded my horizons in terms of how to approach the medium of clay. My interactions with Keeler allowed me to learn through his philosophies and extensive experience.
It is invaluable to be a part of the extended CWIT family; the network of fellows, many of whom are leaders in their respective areas of work, provides opportunities for collaborations.
